Caroline DiMeglio
Passed away on March 2, 2014 in San Pedro surrounded by her loving family. Caroline was born in Ischia, Italy to Maria Grazia and Aniello DiBernardo on September 26, 1924. She moved to California in 1938 and married Mario Di Meglio, her husband of 59 years. He preceded her in death in 2000. Caroline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an active member of the Italian Catholic Federation and St. Anne Society. She volunteered for many years at Little Sisters of the Poor. Caroline is survived by her 3 children, Mary (Louie) Mancusi, Joe (Annie) DiMeglio, and Louise "Sweetie" (Sal) Sorrentino; her 8 grandchildren, Carol (Frank) Lauro, Eileen (Mike) Tankersley, Frank Mancusi, Joey (Stacey) Di Meglio, Mario (Andrea) Di Meglio, Lisa (Nunzio) Boccanfuso, Jennifer Sorrentino, and Vanessa (Bryan) Bero; as well as her 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Tony (Nancy) DiBernardo; sister, Jean (Phillip) Mazzela; sister in law, Mary DiBernardo and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mary Star High School and/or Little Sisters of the Poor. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. You will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014, 5 - 7 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, March 8, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Church, followed by interment at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach.
