Carolyn Grayson Obituary
Carolyn Meskell Grayson

(1955-2017)

Carolyn Grayson, 61, died Saturday at UCLA Medical Center while undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. She's missed by her husband, family, and many friends from Welesley (1977), the UCLA MBA program, The Associates of the Palos Verdes Art Center where she was President, The South Coast Rose Society, and the NorthWest San Pedro Neighborhood Council where she served as a selected Board Member and chair of the Safety and Security Committee. She attended Mass at Mary Star since 1987 where she joined the choir as a Mezzo Soprano. Her business achievements are too many to list, but included, insurance claims adjuster, international literary agent for several NYTimes bestselling authors, project manager and eventually owner of Criteria Consulting, a high tech firm with many customers including Digital Equipment Corp., Xerox, NEC, Toshiba and Samsung. Among her passions were putting the interests of others first, heirloom roses and tomatoes, languages (she spoke fluent French and some German and Italian), cats, and the Celebrate Chefs charity fundraiser where she recruited restaurants and wineries. She was an adventurous chef for her friends and family and kept everyone on a Mediterranean diet with brief departures to BBQ. She was a fearless solo and companion world traveler to Peru, Turkey, Europe, Australia, and planned to attend the Rose festival in Serbia when death took her. She is survived by her husband Ashley, her sister, three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be on Tuesday, March 28th, at Mary Star Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
