Celia "Sally" Hite Obituary
A lifelong resident of the South Bay, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in Redondo Beach. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Sally was 74 when she left us. She graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1955. Aunt Sally, as she was known by all, was a daycare provider for over 40 years. She helped raise her nieces, nephews and many children in the South Bay. In her younger years she loved bowling with family and friends in leagues and tournaments. She also loved decorating her house each year for Halloween for the kids to enjoy. For the past 7 1/2 years she has been the best Grandma ever to her one and only grandson, Marcus, with whom she played endless hours of army, Lego's and games. She enjoyed attending her exercise class twice a week at the Redondo Beach Senior Center. Sally liked to socialize and was known for her gift of gab; she could get a stranger's life story in a ten minute conversation. Sally is survived by daughter, Marcia (Lennie) Hall of Redondo Beach, CA; grandson, Marcus Hall; sister, Carmen Hernandez; brothers, Angel Contreras and Raymond Contreras; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William "Bill" Hite, Sr. and son, William "Bill" Hite, Jr. as well as her parents, Mary and Telesforo Contreras; brothers, Louis Contreras and David Contreras; and sister, Clarita Jenkins. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Monday, April 4, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. with the Rosary service commencing at 7:00 P.M. The Mass Service will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
