Clifford Linkin Tierney

Clifford Linkin Tierney was born January 28, 1921, and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He spent seven years in the United States Navy during World War II. While stationed in Long Beach, California, he met Betty Jean Schnurr at the Long Beach Pike Amusement Park. Cliff and Betty were married August 12, 1943, a marriage that would last 65 years. Cliff was ordained as a minister in the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) in 1951 and proceeded to serve in that capacity for 63 years. He founded the South Bay Church of God in Torrance, California and served in several other churches in Southern California, Santa Cruz and Portland, Oregon. He was director of Church Relations and Missions for Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon and he was Executive Director of the Association of Churches of God in Southern California. Cliff and Betty were blessed with 3 children, Terry, Carol (Irelan) and MaryAnn (Johnson); 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Cliff passed away June 30, 2014 in Sun City, California at the age of 93. Cliff gave unselfishly of himself to help others and has touched the life of countless thousands of people in a positive way.
