Colleen Conner Obituary
Colleen Conner

Colleen Conner passed away on May 5, 2014 due to complications from a stroke. Colleen was born on October 25, 1925 in Daisetta, Texas. She was one of seven children, five girls and two boys. She is survived by her younger twin brothers, Charles and Carlton Conner, who both live in Texas. Colleen moved to California in 1954 and called the South Bay her home, living in Redondo Beach and Inglewood before settling in Hawthorne where she lived for many years. She worked at Northrop for 36 years before retiring in 1990. Colleen was also an active member of the Hawthorne Women's Club for many years and received recognition for her volunteer service for the City of Hawthorne. Colleen enjoyed making trips to Texas to visit her family, going out with her friends, and taking care of those close to her if they were in need. Colleen moved to the Huntington Retirement Hotel in Torrance two years ago after a hip injury and kept active participating in the weekly outings and activities there. Although her move to Huntington was due to necessity and not by choice, she did grow to feel at home there and was very fond of the staff and caregivers who treated her like family as well. Colleen will be missed by all of those who knew her. A memorial service to celebrate Colleen's life is planned for Monday, May 19th at the Huntington Retirement Hotel at 20920 Earl Street in Torrance, CA at 10:30 AM.
