Constance M. Chaco (Mama)

Constance M. Chaco (Mama) passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side April 2, 2015. Born 93 years ago in Honolulu, HI to Gregorio and Theresa Zagala. In 1929 they moved to CA and settled in Lomita where she graduated from Narbonne High. The 2nd oldest of 16 kids, they were noted as the largest navy family at that time. In 1942 she married her handsome sailor Jesus Chaco, residing in Lomita for the rest of their lives raising their family. Connie held many jobs from fish cannery worker to electronic inspector. Through the years she enjoyed dancing, playing the slots and being with family. Mama was a great cook known for her tamales. She was hardworking, strong willed, generous, caring and loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie, Jess Jr., RoseAnn, Annette, George and John; 22 grandkids; 32 great-grandkids; 5 great-great-grandkids; and 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Mama will be remembered as a bright, shining light in our hearts and will be deeply missed as she joins her beloved husband.
