Constance Malloy Obituary
Constance "Connie" Malloy

Dec. 11, 1936 - Dec. 26, 2014

It brings me deep sadness to announce the passing of our good friend, family member, teacher and pillar of the Torrance community Connie Malloy. In 2002, Connie retired after teaching for 37 years for the Torrance Unified School District, most recently at Towers Elementary School. She always said that as a young girl she realized that teaching was her calling in life. She would go on to become a dedicated teacher. It always gave her a wonderful feeling when former students, now adults, would come back to visit her or when they or their parents recognized her in public. They were always overjoyed to see "Miss Malloy." What really pleased her most was when she found out that she had inspired a student so much that they decided to make teaching their career. She was a lifelong Roman Catholic, but in her retirement she rededicated her commitment to her faith. She shared her wonderful gift of teaching by volunteering as a religious educator at her local parish St. Jerome Catholic Church. She remained devoutly religious to the end of her life. She leaves behind her brother, Bill (Fidele) of Springfield, Massachusetts and many extended family members and good friends. Connie requested that no public Memorial be held for her. She will be cremated and a private mass will be celebrated at her childhood parish in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honor Connie's life you may make a donation to one of her favorite charities: Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Charities USA or LA, Doctors Without Borders, or her parish St. Jerome Catholic Church in Westchester, CA. She will be dearly missed by everyone. It is commonly said that the goal and dream of a person is to leave this world a better place than when they entered it. With the great contribution she made as a dedicated teacher to educating our children and touching the lives of so many of her friends she indeed accomplished that goal.
