Daniel Angelo Bruno Obituary
Dan Bruno, ago 90, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. A San Pedro resident for 51 years, Dan was born in Fairmont, W. VA on February 19, 1921. He left home at the age of 15 to join the Civilian Conservation Corps serving until he was able to join the U.S. Navy in 1940. Dan was a proud veteran of World War II and continued his Navy career until retirement in 1960. He brought his wife and family to California and enjoyed a second career with Rockwell International where he worked on the Apollo, space shuttle, and numerous other programs. Dan retired again in 1984. Dan enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He especially loved numerous family trips to Las Vegas where he could be found playing the slot machines. His joyous 90th birthday celebration in Las Vegas will be remembered fondly. Always a winner, Dan passed away on the 7th day, 7th hour, and 7th minute of June. Dan will be lovingly remembered by Mary, his wife of 66 years; his five children and their spouses, Danielle, Mary, Danny (Noina), Doreen (David), and Donna (Don); his 15 grandchildren, and his 11 great grandchildren. He will also be forever remembered by his brother, Fred; sisters, Theresa and Josephine; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Funeral service will be held at Green Hills Chapel on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00am with burial immediately following.
