Daniel Anthony Trutanich Obituary
Daniel Anthony Trutanich

Dan was born on November 9, 1945, in Pasadena and raised in San Pedro. He passed away on July 7, 2016, in 29 Palms. He is a 1964 graduate of San Pedro High School and worked many years as a young man in his family's restaurant, Tony's On the Pier, in Redondo Beach. He earned many close friends over the years through his generous spirit and warm ability to relate to every person he met. He also earned a degree in psychology from Cal State Dominguez Hills. Danny was proud of his job installing and maintaining all of the signs across the city of Manhattan Beach where he lived and worked throughout the 1980s.

Danny comes from a very large family and is survived by many relatives. He is the son of the late Tony Trutanich and Doris Touchard. Danny leaves behind three sisters, Kathy Trutanich, Donna Sevilla and Nancy Touchard. He had three brothers: Michael Trutanich, Tony Trutanich Jr. and the late Brian Touchard. He is survived by nine nieces and nephews and countless Trutanich cousins.

For much of his life, he was known as "Doo Wop Dan" because of his lifelong devotion to the roots of Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll. He spent decades building an extensive collection by scouring record meets and garage sales for rare and obscure phonograph records. Collectors and music fans often consulted him for his peerless knowledge of the Doo Wop genre and early Rock & Roll. Whenever he was introduced to a new person, Danny invariably came up with the title of a song that related to their name. For the past twenty years, Dan lived in 29 Palms, California, where he passed away at home.

Services for Daniel will be held in the church at Green Hills Cemetery in San Pedro on Friday, August 12, at 9 a.m. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
