Dolores Long Obituary
Dolores "Lady" Long Dolores left us peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2018, lovingly surrounded by her family. The ultimate grandmother, magnificent maker of chicken fried steak and her glorious gravy, the DYI expert and crafter extraordinaire (before it was popular), lover of a lively game of bridge, soaking up the sunshine while gardening and expert fisherwoman will be forever missed by her husband, Chuck, of 69 years, her sister, Pat Brackeen of Bedford, Texas; 2 daughters; 5 grandchildren and one great grandson. In 1932, Lady was born in Honeygrove, Texas, the daughter of a career Army officer and later moved to Fort MacArthur where she attended San Pedro High School. She met and married the one and only love of her life, Charles Long, also a graduate of SPHS. In 1954, they purchased their home in Torrance, where they raised their family and reside today. She most loved spending time in the High Sierras. She is well known in those parts for her famous Margarita Parties, which have now become an annual festive tradition. There are not enough words that can convey her tireless acts of kindness, her giving nature or her love of family. To rejoice a life well lived, her family will host "From One Seed of Love a Handful Grows" Open House* on Sunday, October 7 from 1-4pm 17228 Haas Ave, Torrance In her honor, please wear something red. Her farewell margarita party will be hosted in the High Sierras* Summer 2019 Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
