Dorian Dunlavey, 84, of Rancho Palos Verdes, passed away on October 30 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 4, 1927 to Theodore and Ruth Brown in Panama, NY and was the youngest of their five children. Dorian married Dean C. Dunlavey on September 8, 1948. They remained married until his death in 2003. Dorian graduated from Jamestown (New York) High School in 1945 and the University of California, Berkeley in 1955, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In addition to raising her family, Dorian worked as an interior designer and a travel agent. Her family moved to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1962. Dorian provided strong support to the incorporation of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes in 1973. She served as president of the local branch of the American Association of University Women during the 1970s. Dorian was generous in many ways and provided support to numerous individuals and organizations. She was active in her church and served as a Stephen Minister. She will be laid to rest in Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes. Dorian is survived by her brother, Overton Brown; her sister, Analinda Felt; her sons, Dudley, Dean Geoffrey and Dana; six grandchildren; and many other relatives. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service for her, which will be held at St. Peter's by the Sea Presbyterian Church, 6410 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes on December 3 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to D.E.L.T.A.
