1922 - 2011 Obituary Condolences
Doris Juanita Fritzel passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 after a brief illness. She was the younger daughter of Walter and Lucia Buckbee. She was born in Modesto, CA in 1922, the family moved to Whittier, CA and later to Oro Grande, CA where she spent most of her childhood. Doris attended elementary school in Oro Grande and high school at Victor Valley High School in Victorville, CA. After high school, Doris went to San Bernardino Valley Junior College where she met her husband-to-be, George Fritzel of Colton, CA. They were married in 1942. After WWII, they lived in Los Angeles and then moved to Torrance, CA in 1966. Doris was active in South Bay volunteer work, working for Trinity Hospice, Redondo Beach Police, RSVP and the Torrance Chamber of Commerce doing mass mailings and scheduling volunteers to work. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening in her everyday life and was an avid letter writer to her many friends. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, George; son, Bradley Fritzel (Sherry) of Hermosa Beach CA; daughter, Katherine Anderson (Jim) of Marysville, WA; granddaughters, Judie Stefanik (Sean) of Marysville, WA, Samantha Fritzel of Scottsdale, AZ, Margaret Fritzel of Culver City, WA and Cassandra Fritzel of Hermosa Beach, CA; and great-granddaughter, Kona Stefanik of Marysville, WA.
