Dorothea "Doe" Robinson Obituary
Dorothea "Doe" Ruane

Doe (77) was born in Pittsburg, PA and died on April 1, 2012 at Torrance Medical Center where she had volunteered for 22 years. Doe worked 16 years as a Pan Am in-flight Services Director and volunteered to work 'R and R' flights from Vietnam for US Servicemen. After her marriage to Colonel Douglas M. Robinson, USAF, Doe began her volunteer labor of love at TMMC in 1984. Despite damage to her back and leg from an accident while working for Pan Am, Doe walked to corridors of TMMC and served in both the Day Care Surgery Unit and I.C.C Unit. She started the Bingo for patients and developed a Patient Information Form there. Doe served as President of the Auxiliary, served on the Board of Trustees and was also President for four years of the fund-raising group, Las Amigas. She was honored as Torrance YWCA Woman of the Year in their 18th Annual Award ceremony. Doe leaves behind her sister, Sister Alice Ruane, S.C.; her stepsons, Gary Robinson and wife, Marlena, Kim Robinson and wife, Cynthia; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their children in Pennsylvania and the East Coast. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 2pm on April 19th at St. Lawrence Martyr Church's Chapel, Redondo Beach. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Torrance Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary, 3330 Lomita Blvd., Torrance.
