Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy Klausner passed away peacefully on October 17, 2011 in San Pedro, where she lived for 60 years. Dorothy was born in Lemmon, South Dakota on July 16, 1926. She graduated from St. Olaf University and earned a B. S. degree in physical education in 1947, then began a teaching career in Montana. She joined her sister in Los Angeles to begin teaching in Bell, CA. While attending a square dancing class she met her life mate and true love, Stanley Klausner, a San Pedro High history teacher. They married in 1951. While raising 6 kids, she continued to teach part time at Harbor College and San Pedro HS. Vacations were filled with camping trips and traveling the world. Dorothy was an active member of AAUW. She and Stanley enjoyed ballroom dancing, always first on the floor and the last to leave. They danced through life together for 56 years with grace and style. Preceded in death by Stanley in 2007, she is survived by her children, Jean (Mike) Ritter, Steve (Jill) Klausner, Cheryl Klausner, Viki (Jim) Trani, Stan (Cyndy) Klausner, Peggy (David) Diaz; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
