Dorothy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, raised in Pomona, CA alongside her older brother, Arthur (deceased) and younger sister, Diane. She attended Pomona High School and was the queen of the Pomona Fair when she was a senior. Dorothy was married to George Chacksfied (deceased), a prominent South Bay real estate developer. She later married Donald Edinger (deceased). As a South Bay resident of sixty years, she had been an active member of the Sand Pipers charity organization, the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club and the Palos Verdes Country Club. Her many interests included traveling, playing golf (until she was ninety), bridge and painting. A talented painter, she studied with Millard Sheets as a young woman. Later she studied with local South Bay artists. She was a founding member of the Rembrandt Crew (local women artists) and was active in the Palos Verdes Community Arts Association. She is survived her daughters, Sandi and Sydney; son-in-law, Jim; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Affectionately, she will be remembered by all her family, as Gammy.
