September 2, 1930 - July 23, 2018Dorothy Ann Sather, 87, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2018. She was born to Harold and Alvira Hasenbank on September 2, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Marshall High School (in Minneapolis) in 1948 and later attended classes at the University of Minnesota. In 1950, she married Milo Sather of Albert Lea, Minnesota. Dorothy and Milo lived in Minnesota, Illinois, and Canada, before settling in Los Angeles in the wonderful community of Westchester. Dorothy truly loved being a devoted mother and providing nurture and support to her four children. She liked to bake, sew, listen to musicals, shop, and go to the movies. Dorothy found pleasure in talking with people and always showed an interest in and concern for others. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society and served as the local Girl Scouts cookie chairperson. After her children were raised, Dorothy became a travel agent, visiting many countries and seeing sights all over the world. When asked what the most beautiful place she had ever seen was, she replied, "Alaska!"Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jo Mancuso, brother-in-law John Mancuso, and brother John Hasenbank. She is survived by her children: Michael Sather (Ronna), Patricia Mize (David), Jeanne Sather, and James Sather (Diane), and by her grandchildren: Justin Fassler (Shelley), Jonathon Sather, Allison Sprague (Eric), Alexandra Sather, and Nicoletta Sather.The family would like to thank the employees of the Lomita Post-Acute Care Center and Cherish Hospice, for their vigilance, support, and kindness.
