Dwan Collete Leidig Obituary
With hearts full of love for her we say goodbye to Dwan Collete Leidig at the age of 82. Dwan was born July 19th, 1936 in Port Angeles, Washington to Randal (Jack) and LaVerne Fernandes Graff. Dwan graduated from Bellevue High School in 1955 and attended Marylhurst Catholic College in 1956. In 1957 she attended Seattle University.
Dwan was lured away from academics by the thrill of the skies. She moved to Los Angeles and joined TWA as a flight attendant. She was adventurous and enjoyed international travel for five years. In 1962 she returned to her education attending Long Beach University where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach in the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District for 30 years. She treasured the kids that she worked with and was awarded Teacher of the year multiple times.
During this time she met the love of her life and her favorite dance partner Don Glenn Leidig. She assisted him and his parents with their family business in Carmel by the Sea. It became their home away from home. They happily danced their way through 45 years of marriage accompanied by one child, one sister and lots of fur babies.
Dwan loved Palos Verdes and joined many of the supportive organizations on the hill. She was a member of the P.V. Art Center where she ran the program Art for Educators, the Associates and the Assistance League. She also was a very active member of her church Saint Luke's Presbyterian in Rolling Hills. Here she enjoyed friendship and laughter every Sunday as a deacon.
Preceding Dwan Leidig in death are her husband Donald Leidig, her parents Jack and LaVerne Graff of Bellevue, WA, and her in-laws Glenn and Marian Leidig of Carmel, CA. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law Kristin and Dan Sears and their children Regan and Glenn Leidig-Sears. She leaves behind a loving sister and brother in-law Rola and Joel Krause, lots of nieces and nephews, many good friends and canyon animals that will sorely miss her. However, she is now with her favorite dance partner, dancing their way through a new adventure.
A celebration of life will be held September 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Presbyterian in Rolling Hills, CA. Any memorial donations for Dwan may be sent to the church at 26825 Rolling Hills Rd, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274
