1922 - 2010 Obituary Condolences
Edna Alice Potter was born April 10, 1922 in Los Angeles, CA to Norman and Bessie Hastings. She was a lifelong resident of Los Angeles and Gardena. She attended Fremont High School and received her Associate of Arts degree in Art from Los Angeles City College. She was first employed at the Reardon Company and later during WWII at Firestone Rubber Co. and Army Ordinance. She met and married Ralph L. Potter on February 10, 1948. She worked as the school administrator for the Manchester Baptist and Calvary Baptist Elementary Schools. After retirement, she attended Torrance First Baptist Church where she was active with the deaconesses and led senior travel. She went to be with the Lord at age 88 on September 11, 2010 in Torrance surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ralph; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kathy Potter of Los Angeles; daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Douglas Beatty of Tennessee; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Torrance First Baptist on September 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the Doors of Hope Women's Shelter, Wilmington, CA.
