Edward Francis Sullivan "Sully"

On December 13, 2012 Eddie passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born in San Pedro, CA on June 12, 1930 to Edward and Ellen Glynn Sullivan. While living in San Pedro he worked as a lifeguard, fireman, and longshoreman. In 1995, he retired from the ILWU after 48 years where he was a Foreman for APL. In 1955 Eddie was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Eddie was a dedicated, devoted and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, god-father, brother and uncle. He dedicated many years of service to Holy Trinity and Mary Star of the Sea Parishes. In 1948 he graduated from San Pedro High School, and in 1950 graduated from Harbor College where he was a receiver on their first football team. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Mary DiBernardo ("sweet Mary"). Eddie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary and his seven children, Ellen Sullivan King, Nancy (Dave) Lackman, Julie (Mikel) Nunnally, Eddie (Terri) Sullivan, John (Eileen) Sullivan, Lori (Ed) Gentile, and Beth (Matt) Fistonich. He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren, Amber, Eric, Shannan, Megan, Rachel, Justine, Michael, Eddie, Vince, Matt, Jake, Molly, Katie, Johnny, Eddie, Savannah, Gianfranco, Amy, and Ashley; 2 great grandchildren, Wren and Tristin; his sisters, MaryGlynn Zuanich, Catherine (Stan) Mandich, Clair Gettman, and JoAnne (Keith) Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents (Ed & Ellen Glynn Sullivan) and sister, Margaret. Visitation will be held on Monday, December . 17th, 6:00pm - 7:00pm, with Rosary to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1292 W. Santa Cruz Street, San Pedro. Funeral mass will be offered Tuesday, December 18th, 1:00 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to either Holy Trinity or Mary Star High School in memory of Edward Sullivan.
