Edward Gardea Obituary
August 1, 1928 - August 27, 2011

Surrounded by his family, Eddie passed away peacefully. He was born in San Pedro and was a lifetime resident. In his youth, Eddie was a proud member of the Barton Hill Cougars. He enjoyed playing for the Boys Club basketball team and other sports. He joined the Army shortly after WWII, serving in Germany. After his term of duty, he met his wife, Lupe. They were married in 1950. Eddie became a proud member of the ILWU and retired in 1993. He was an avid jazz enthusiast and loved traveling in his motor home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Maria; and by his wife and mother of his children, Lupe. Eddie is survived by his current wife, Dolores; six sons, Rudy (Linda), Ed (Linda), Arnold (Carol), James (Maria), Arthur (Renee) and David (Allie); his daughter, Laura Garcia (Henry); sisters, Antonia and Rachel; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and 4 stepchildren. Memorial services will be held at McNerney's Mortuary on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11 am. After the services, there will be a celebration at the VFW Hall in Wilmington.
