Eileen Mueller Obituary
Eileen Mueller
Eileen Donna (Brekke) Mueller, longtime resident of San Pedro, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2012 surrounded by family and lifted on the wings of angels.
Born January 3, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Albert and Selma (Nordin) Brekke. Eileen was raised in St. Paul and met the love of her life there at a wedding reception. She was married Lewis Mueller on June 28, 1947.
Eileen was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and often demonstrated her strong Norwegian spirit. That strength shown through as a proud Navy wife, caring for the family while her husband Lewis served for 30 years. She loved being outdoors, enjoyed nature, an array of animals, and her morning walks with her husband along Cabrillo Beach.
Eileen leaves a strong legacy of love and caring for others. She especially loved children as evidenced by her 20 years of devoted service as a teacher's aide at Park Western, Crest, and 15th Street schools. She assisted and counseled the children as only a mom can do. The inscription on her farewell gift sums it up, "Thank you for all the mornings of dedicated service. Most of all we know, and the children know, you care!"
Eileen is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Lewis Mueller; children, Karen, Patricia, John, and Ida; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren who were loved so deeply; brother, Donald Brekke; sister, Joanne (Brekke) Bell, both of Minnesota; and finally a vast array of friends too numerous to list who loved Mom Mueller.
We are forever grateful to follow her lead, having learned her lifetime lesson of love for family first and caring for others.
A private family gathering was held to honor Eileen. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MODD (More Opportunities for the Developmentally Disabled) PO Box 13924, Torrance, CA 90503. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com and www.mcnerneysmortuary.
