Elizabeth Hassoldt Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Hassoldt, a 52 year resident of Torrance, unexpectedly went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Torrance with her family at her side. Born in New Castle, PA, on March 17, 1928, Elizabeth, known lovingly as "Liz", is survived by her two brothers, Zaven (Irene) Sipantzi and Vahan (Zoe) Sipantzi; her 3 children, Nicole (Phillip "Skip") LeBrun, Steven (Patricia) Hassoldt and Janet Tamble; and many extended family members. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Arnold (Arnie), of 57 years in a private family funeral. A loving homemaker and stay at home mom raising her 3 children, she supported her husband for 13 years while he attended night school at USC to get his advanced civil engineering education. She was forever strong in her faith, commitment and love for the Lord and her church, sharing that with others. She was an avid "prayer warrior", an active member of the Torrance 1st Baptist Church, and a charitable supporter of churches, missionaries, colleges and charities that supported spreading the word of God. She loved music and taught piano to many in the area, and was also the church organist at Del Amo Christian Church for the years she was there, as well as providing all the floral arrangements. She was patriotic, civic and community minded in her support of the US troops, USO, always did her jury duty, always voted and read every word of the ballot measures. She worked on elections for 55 years and as an Election Precinct Officer in the LA County for 35 of those years, receiving a special award for her services. She loved to travel in the US and abroad to see God's beauty, particularly her trip to the Holy Land. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her as she touched many lives. We know that she is in a better place and is at peace in the arms of the Lord. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made in her name to Missionary Aviation Fellowship, Hope International or Biola Universities or Forest Home Christian Camp. An open Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Torrance 1st Baptist Church located at 2118 W. Carson Street in Torrance at 11 AM.
