Ella May Pattison Obituary
Ella May (Wimsatt) Pattison

Ella Pattison, a teacher for 25 years at Seaside Elementary School until her retirement in 1988, peacefully passed away May 28 after a long illness. She would have been 89 on May 31. She was born in Hanover, New Mexico, and was one of four graduates of nearby Cloudcroft High School in 1944. Later that year she married Lemuel Earl Pattison, and after his service in the US Army Air Force, they made their home in southern California, where Earl worked in the aerospace industry. They had two children, Dianne and Craig, and when the children were of school age, Ella started taking classes at El Camino Community College. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was active in the Parent-Teacher Association. Ella eventually transferred to Long Beach State University, where she graduated in 1962 with teaching credentials. She taught third grade for most of her tenure at Seaside. Ella was also a licensed private airplane pilot and a member of the 99s Women Pilots Association. She took many of her students for their first ride in an airplane. Earl passed away in 2007, shortly after their 63rd wedding anniversary. Ella is survived by her daughter Dianne Pattison (Toby Bell); her son Craig Pattison (Patricia Pattison); her sister Thelma Walker (Charles Walker); her sister Lorene Maraman (Rufus Maraman); and numerous nieces and nephews. It was Ella's wish that no services be held. Her ashes will be scattered into the Pacific Ocean by the Neptune Society, as were her husband's ashes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a local Humane Society chapter, to celebrate Ella's love of all animals. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
