Elvira "Mae" Mochan

Mae Mochan of Torrance passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Mae was 80 years old, and had been married to Charles "Red" Mochan for 60 years. She was the daughter of Carl and Bernice (later Ruppel) Lindenberg. Mae was a native of Torrance and a member of the first graduation class from the current location of Torrance High School. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, and an active supporter of South Bay Little League programs with Red. Mae was a homemaker, and ran the home office for the family milk business, HAM Distributing. She is survived by her husband, Red; brother, Richard Lindenberg of South Carolina; son, Michael (Jackie) Mochan of Parker, Colorado; daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Shea of Lomita; and daughter; Cynthia (Ted) Morris of Blythe. Mae has six grandchildren, Ryan and Christopher Mochan of Parker, Colorado; Blair and Patrick Morris of Blythe, and two "adopted" step grandchildren, Jeff (Nicole) and Stephanie Shea of Lomita, one "adopted" great grandchild, Leighton, of Lomita, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The viewing and vigil will be at A. M. Gamby Mortuary, 25001 Narbonne Avenue, Lomita, on Wednesday, February 26th, from 4 to 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Parish, 25511 Eshelman Avenue, Lomita, on Thursday, February 27th, at 10 am, followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes.
