Emily Duncan

September 3, 1923 - December 4, 2015

Resident of Alameda

Emily Duncan passed away on December 4, 2015 in Alameda, CA. Emily was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 3, 1923 to Fred and Ella Siddall. She was the third of five children and the only girl. After graduating from Walled Lake High, she worked for General Motors. While employed there, she met her future husband, Andrew "Lee" Duncan. They married and moved to Hollywood, California in 1944. Emily, Lee and their daughter, Andrea, moved to Redondo Beach in 1953. Redondo was her home for the next 51 years. Emily liked to be involved in her community. She was PTA President at Grant School, which became Andrews Elementary, and co-Girl Scout Leader for Troop 23. In 1960, she started working for the Redondo Beach Unified School District at the central cooking center where she was the Food Service Manager until retiring in 1988. Not one to sit around, she worked for Redondo Beach Parks and Rec. in the Senior Services Department. She enjoyed painting, making jewelry, collecting old perfume bottles and tap dancing. In 2004, she moved to Alameda to be closer to her family. She kept up her work with other seniors, volunteering at Mastick Senior Center, and made many friends there. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea; her son-in-law, Cyrus Musiker; her granddaughter, Sarah Musiker; all of Alameda, and a brother, William Siddall of Lancaster, CA. Private Entombment was held at the Pacific Crest Cemetery, Redondo Beach, CA on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Alameda Funeral and Cremation Services
