Ernest Jacobs Obituary
Ernest Jacobs
Ernest Jacobs of Torrance, 87, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2013. Born in Philadelphia on August 7, 1926, he served our country as a Corporal in the US Army during WWII and later as an Ensign in the US Navy. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 63 years, daughter Debi Grand, son Jon and stepdaughter Kimberly, son Ben and wife Heather, grandson Paul Grand and wife Luci, and great-granddaughter, Penny, whose arrival is expected next month. After earning his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, the family relocated to SoCal in 1961, so he could take a job with the Aerospace Corp in El Segundo. He and Gloria were avid community volunteers with, to name a few, the Riviera Garden Club, Friends of the Madrona Marsh, Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation and Torrance Sister City Assn. A military funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6 at 2:00 pm at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to either or one of his (, Save the Redwoods League, Planned Parenthood or Jewish National Fund). Ernie was well-known for his warm, friendly personality and wonderful sense of humor. His family, along with his many friends and fellow volunteers will feel his loss.
