Eva Irene (MacKenzie) Starkey went home to be with her Lord November 10, 2011. Eva was the sixth child of Laura (Carton) and Albert Mackenzie. Born February 25, 1929 in St. John, N.B. and Canada. She is survived by a sister, Alice of N.B. Canada, Three children, Brenda Starkey of Los Angles, Steve Starkey of Long Beach and Carol Miller of Anaheim; daughters-in-law, Terry and Sue; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; (her husband, Steve; son, Jimmy of Riverside and grandson, Justin preceded her) As a registered nurse, newly married to Steve Elmer Starkey (1951), they moved to California in 1952 and became United States citizens. She worked at Torrance Hospital in the newborn nursery and retried from there after 37 years of babies. Eva served her Lord at SeaCoast Church in Redondo Beach. She was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, also led the Rosebuds groups for many years. SeaCoast had been Eva's home church for over 54 years. Eva traveled half the world but Redondo Beach was home. Eva passed from this life Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. with her family around her. She went very peaceful and without any stress. In lieu of flowers, Eva would like to see donations made towards Alzheimer's research. There is a celebration of Eva's life at SeaCoast Church, 100 S.
