Frank Califano Obituary
Frank R. Califano A Great Man

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born in the little house on 10th street on February 17, 1928 to Gaetano and Maria Califano, the 7th of 8 children he attended Cabrillo Avenue Elementary, Dana Jr. High, and San Pedro High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country in Germany. Upon his return, he began once again fishing on the family boat, St. Augustine II. In 1955, he married his sweetheart Joanne. They have three children; Michele, Mary Ann, and Frank (Jodie). They have 5 grandchildren; Kristina (Eric), Bo (Nellina), Andrianna, Lacey and Lilly, great grandchildren; Shyonna, Victor, Bo, Frankie, and Aleena. He leaves his brother in law Mitchell Zorich, sisters in law, Cynthia Califano and Jean Zorich along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Most of his life was spent commercial fishing but he retired in 1995 as a real estate salesman. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Riste Desanto, Sue Herman, Annie Califano and Antonette Vuoso, brothers, Joe, Philip, and Tony. Brother in law, Richard Zorich, in laws, Mitchell and Mary Zorich and niece, Franceen Vuoso. His love for his family was unending. He was so proud of them, and they, of him. Recently, when he was asked what he did for a living he answered with great pride, "I am a fisherman". Fishing with his father, brothers, and brother in law was one of the happiest memories he had. No words can describe how much his family will miss him, but find comfort in knowing he is at peace. The family wishes to thank Dr. Andres Jiminez, for all the years of kind loving care and hospice nurse, Joy Arana for her compassion and comfort. A special thank you to our grandson Bo for being at our side for the past 2 years. His devotion and love will never be forgotten. Services are private. Please sign guestbook at dailybreeze.com
