Frank Mackprang Obituary
Frank C. Mackprang

Of Huntington Beach died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 17, 2016 at the age of 88. Frank was born in Los Angeles on October 27, 1927, to Francis "Mac" Mackprang and Marguerite "Peggy" Ryan Mackprang. He enlisted in the navy at the age of 17 to serve his country during WW II. He married Carolyn Miller on November 2, 1947. Frank and Carolyn settled in Westchester where they raised their four children. They were among the founding members of the St. Jerome parish in Westchester. In 1974, they moved to Long Beach's Marina Pacifica, a waterside development Frank helped build, to indulge in their passion for boating.

Frank is survived by his son Terry (Maureen) Mackprang, daughters Cheryl (Steve) Fox, Nancy (John) Phillips, and Lorri Kaysen; his sister, Sue Deans; and his grandchildren, Tristan Mackprang, Taryn Mackprang-Kane, Emily Mackprang, Geof Mackprang, Wendy Fox-Bruner, Megan Fox, Meredith Fox-DuBois, Chuck Fox, Mark Phillips, Aileen Phillips-Wakefield, Ashley Kaysen, Nick Kaysen, and Katy Kaysen as well as his great-grandchildren Murphy Kane, Abby and Carter Bruner, Olive and Lucy DuBois, and Rhett Phillips. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a wonderful friend.

Frank was one of the first carpenters who specialized in commercial framing and founded the Framak Construction Company. Among his many achievements is the iconic Randy's Donut Shop (the "Big Donut") in Inglewood, designed by his business partner, Hank Goodwin. He was an active member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church and a longtime usher at the 8:00 Sunday Mass. Frank was an avid sports fisherman, loyal Notre Dame fan and long-time member of the Long Beach Yacht Club. He was blessed with a full and meaningful life.

A Rosary was held for Frank at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Belmont Shores in Long Beach and his funeral was held on Tuesday, March 22nd at St. Bartholomew's. He will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in a private graveside service. Please sign guestbook at dailybreeze.com/obits
