Frank Nazarene Palumbo

A fifty year resident of the South Bay passed away December 15, 2011. He was born March 29, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama. He grew up in the Palumbo family grocery store. In high school he joined ROTC, earned English and Journalism degrees from the University of Alabama and served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked at Northrop for 30 years as a graphics editor and writer. He loved his family, friends and pets, and had a thirst for knowledge. Frank had a generous heart and was loved by all. He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Francis Anthony; daughters, Loretta and Wendy; sister, Rosalie Sacco; brother, Leonard Palumbo; grandchildren, Quinn, Penny, Leah, Brandi, Victoria, Nicholas, Brittany and Gary; his aunt Frances Trongale and several cousins, nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Mary and Nancy; and brother-in-law, Leon. He was predeceased by his father, John Palumbo; mother,Lucy Chicarello; brothers, Charles, Samuel and Anthony. The Mass will be held on Wednesday December 28 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church in Hawthorne. Burial is pending at Riverside National Cemetery.
