Fredrick Albert Willson Obituary

Fred went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2011 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He was born to Albert Newton and Virginia Beggs Willson on September 8, 1930, in Morristown, New Jersey. The family moved to Ashland, Illinois in 1932, and later to Arkansas where Fred graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1949. Fred attended Emporia State College on a basketball scholarship and married Norma Werner in 1952. After graduation in 1953, Fred coached basketball at Lindsborg, Kansas for several years before moving to California where they raised their children. Fred taught biology at South High School in Torrance from 1959 to 1988. After retirement from teaching, Fred was associated with the Institute for Creation Research and traveled for many years throughout the country to conduct creation workshops. Fred is survived by one daughter, Melissa Anne (Richard Wayne) Hawkes; and one grandson, Travis Robert Hawkes; sons, Fredrick "Rick" (Laura) Newton, his youngest son, Sidney Todd Willson; one sister, Barbara; two brothers, John Newton, and Paul Willson, which includes several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald. Memorial services were held at Fellowship Bible Church in Springdale, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that gifts in his memory be sent to Fellowship Bible Church, PO Box 92, Springdale, AR.
