1921 - 2013

Glenn Franklin Singleton, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 5, 2013. He was born March 30, 1921 in Platte City, Missouri to parents Robert and Leila (Carney) Singleton. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Robert. Glenn grew up on a farm. From an early age he enjoyed all aspects of his education which continued throughout his life. He served as an officer on a LST ship 868 in the Pacific during WWII. After the war, he returned to college where he met Dorothy Ruth Johnston. They married in 1947 and enjoyed 66 years together. Glenn's career path as a Quality Control engineer moved the family from their home in Liberty, Missouri to Torrance, California in 1961. He had a long and rewarding career at Hughes Aircraft. Glenn enjoyed poetry, boating and music. He was a very talented man who could repair almost anything. He was a loving husband and father. Glenn was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Torrance. Glenn is survived by wife, Ruth; sons, Gary (Janey), Neal (Denise); daughters, Glenna (Damon), Carol (Marty); grandchildren, Glenn, Myra, Max, Brent, Erin, Carla, Vance, Carl; and great-grandchildren, Penelope and Jane.
