Helen Ward-Hansen Obituary
Helen Ward-Hansen
Passed away January 26, 2013 in her home. Helen was born April 14, 1913 in Mankato, Kansas. She was a much loved Mother, "Gram" and Great Grandmother. Helen lived a long and productive life - she recalled roller skating in front of Harry Truman's home when she was a girl and dispatching taxi cabs in Kansas City. A California resident since 1940, Helen worked as a machine shop drill press operator and telephone operator before beginning her career at the El Camino College Library. After her retirement, she needed "something to do" and decided to blend her love of needlecraft with work and opened Helen's Hobbies in Alpine Village. She ran the "shop" for over twenty years. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Art Jody Walters, granddaughters Cary Stone (Jace) and Denise Rose (Patrick) and great grandsons, Matt Stone and Glenn Rose. Graveside services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. Pleas sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
