Helena Maria Cioth

Aug. 6, 1931 - Dec. 15, 2014
Resident of San Jose
Helena Cioth, matriarch of the Cioth family, was a strong, passionate woman who put family first. Born in Poland, she survived World War II and adapted to a new life in England and Scotland. In 1957 she, her husband and first child boarded the Queen Mary and voyaged across the Atlantic to New York City; eventually, they settled in California. She is warmly remembered for her devo¬tion to family, hard work ethic, sense of humor, deep faith, and wonderful culi¬nary skills. Her hand-made Polish delicacies were the highlight of family holiday celebrations.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Boguslaw, four children Renata (Randy), Adam (Beth), Alex (Allison), and Greg (Cathy) as well as 10 grandchildren: Peter, Jeremy, Talia, Leah, David, Elisabeth, Katie, Courtney, Morgan and Connor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contri¬butions in Helena's name may be made to the Polish American Association at www.polish.org.
