Henrietta Gomes Obituary
Henrietta M. Gomes, 101

June 16, 1914 - December 6, 2015

Henrietta was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada to Louis and Pamela Truxler. The family moved to San Pedro, CA when she was 9 years old. Henrietta attended Mary Star of the Sea Grammar School and graduated high school from Saint Anthony in Long Beach, CA. Henrietta married Ralph Gomes in 1935. After his Naval retirement, they remained in San Pedro where they raised their three children, Barbara, Pamela, and Ralph. Henrietta and Ralph were very active members of Mary Star of the Sea Parish church and schools. In 1959 Henrietta went to school to become a Dental Assistant. Upon graduation, she worked for Dr.'s Alfonso and Bennie Ruiz until her retirement in 1983. Henrietta enjoyed being the volunteer Dental Assistant and volunteer medical office assistant at Little Sisters of the Poor for over 20 years, before becoming a resident there, where she resided until her passing. Henrietta was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1964, her daughter Barbara Gomes Curci in 2009, Granddaughter Carmela Curci Sardisco in 2006 as well as her three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter Pamela M. Bautista, son Ralph J. Gomes; grandchildren James (Maribel) Bautista, Christine Bautista Soto, David Bautista, AnnMarie (Scott) Fischer, Megan Gomes, Shelby Gomes; great grandchildren Jason (Sophia) Bautista, Amanda Bautista, Tayler Bautista, Caitlin Fischer, Nickalas Fischer, and Scott Soto; four great great granchildren Aaliyah, Jessiah, Uriah, and Kai Bautista; nieces Carol Rakich and Wilma Brisidine and families of San Jose, CA. Henrietta was a very kind, gentle and loving person. All who knew and loved her hated to say goodbye, but we are sure she was welcomed and embraced by all her family and loved ones who awaited her arrival in God's Kingdom. Our family extends their sincere gratitude to the Sisters and staff of Little Sisters of the Poor for their loving care of Henrietta. Per Henrietta's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to Little Sister's of the Poor to aid their continued loving care of the poor and elderly. A viewing and rosary will be held Monday 12/14 from 5 - 8 PM with a rosary at 7 PM at Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel, with a funeral Mass on Tuesday 12/15 at 10:30 AM, also at the Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel in San Pedro. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. Please sign the guestbook at mcnerneysmortuary.com or dailybreeze.com.
