Henry Diaz

Henry Diaz went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 12, 2012. Henry was born to Camilo and Mercedes Diaz on October 19, 1939 in Antioch, CA. He passed away in Hawthorne, CA, after a long illness at the age of 72. During his childhood and adolescent years, he was a resident of the Antioch and Pittsburg, CA areas. He went to Pittsburg High School, where he loved to play on the high school football team. Henry lived with his parents from 1939 - 1960 and enjoyed being with his brothers and sisters. During 1960 - 1966, he enlisted with the Army National Guard in Fort Ord, CA. After serving in the military, Henry came to Southern California, where he met and married the love of his life, Naomi Diaz. They settled in the South Bay area and started a family. They were married for 47 wonderful years. For many years Henry worked in various machine shops as a machinist until he retired. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Diaz of Hawthorne, CA; sisters, Frances (Manuel) Arenivar, Esther Cruz, both of Pittsburg, CA and Josie Diaz of Concord, CA; brother, Vincent Diaz of Sacramento, CA; sons, Eric (Gina) Diaz of Lakewood, CA and Jimmy Diaz of Hawthorne, CA; many nieces and nephews. Henry enjoyed listening to 50s rock-n-roll and Doo-Wop. He liked target shooting with his sons, going to Disneyland and Dodger baseball games and he loved going on vacations to visit Yosemite, Angels Camp, Monterey Bay, the Grand Canyon and family in Northern, CA. Henry was a loyal husband, a loving father, and a joyful friend you could count on for friendship and support. Henry attended church at First Baptist Church of Wilmington and walked with God until he was called home. Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Wilmington. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
