Hermann George Sprainis
Hermann George Sprainis, went to be with The Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2014. He was 86. He was born on October 16, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to Andrew "Henry" and Urtella Sprainis. He moved to California in 1947 where he remained until his death, residing in Torrance, CA. He traveled back to Maryland many times to visit with family, friends, and to enjoy his favorite food, Maryland crabs. Hermann served in the United States Merchant Marines in various positions on numerous ships for over 20 years and then worked at Rocker Industries until he retired. He was a history buff, photographer, avid walker, loved to travel, had a keen interest in coins, always had something he was fixing, and regularly attended church. He never failed to offer assistance to those in need and donated to various charities. He liked to talk about his numerous trips and excursions throughout his life, with family and friends. He is survived by his siblings, Dottie Stubbs, Urtella Coffey, Leona Bugay, Martha Trimmer, Dolores Olszewski, Andrew Sprainis, Jeanette Latzo, Johnny Sprainis; his godson, Roy Coffey Jr.; along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Services will be at First Lutheran Church, on January 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
