Hilda Winona Kozak Obituary

"Nona" was born to Vern and Hilda Peterson on September 16, 1932 and grew up in Sturgis, Saskatchewan, Canada.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon and taught high school math and English.
Nona married Archie Kozak in 1958 and moved to Kornblum Avenue in Torrance- their lifelong home where they would cherish the many good times with their four kids. The family enjoyed many road trips- the best ones were to Saskatchewan.
Nona was a real estate agent; she sang in the church choir, served on the Little League and AYSO Boards, and coached soccer (having been the first North High Girls' soccer coach). Her philanthropic passion, however, was the Torrance Woman's Club, of which she was a member for 50 years; she served in several different positions, including a term as Marina District president.
Preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Nona is survived by her sister, Elaine Grass of Regina, Saskatchewan, her daughter, Brenda Colbert (Ralph) of El Segundo, her son, Roland Kozak, of Reno, Nevada, her son, Chris Kozak, of Torrance, and her daughter, Nadine Tyree (Scott) of Carlsbad. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Vince, Stephanie, and Tim Colbert, Katrina and Eric Kozak, Ashley Mileham, Casey Lickhalter, and Sabrina Kozak, and Cal and Cami Tyree.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 20, 2016, 3:00 p.m. at Halverson, Stone, and Myers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Avenue, Torrance, CA 90501.
Donations in Nona's memory may be made to the Torrance Woman's Club, 1422 Engracia Avenue, Torrance, CA 90501.
