Stephen J. Hostettler

Stephen John Hostettler, Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy Retired, passed away November 4, 2011 in Torrance, CA after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Evansville, Indiana, August 23, 1931 and was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in 1953. Admiral Hostettler commanded the USS Cochrane and the USS Halsey. In 1979, he was appointed Commander of U.S. Naval Forces in Korea then Director of Naval Surface Warfare Combat Systems and ended his naval career as the Director of the Tomahawk Cruise Missile program in 1982. He retired from the navy in 1986 and became the director of Programs and Engineering with Atlantic Research Corporation in Gainesville, VA. Stephen is survived by his daughter, Katherine; son, Stephen, Jr. and his wife Valerie; 2 grandsons; and fiancée, Myra Bearman. Memorial services will be held on February 28, 2012, 11:00 A.M., Fort Meyer Chapel, VA followed by a full military honor burial at Arlington National Cemetery. Please sign the guestbook for Stephen
