Edward Ian Patrick Burr died on the morning of December 25, 2010 in Redondo Beach, California. He was 20. Ian, as he was known to friends and family, was born on August 12, 1990 in Bellflower, California. He grew up in the South Bay, attending Towers Elementary and Bert Lynn Middle School in Torrance. In 2008, Ian graduated from West Torrance High School. He was currently attending El Camino Community College. While in school, Ian participated in numerous team sports, including baseball, football and soccer. Baseball was his favorite. He played in the Torrance Little League and the Redondo Beach Pony League, as well as on the South Bay Sharks traveling team. His greatest athletic achievement came while playing for the Sharks, when he pitched a perfect game. Outside of athletics, Ian shared a variety of activities and pastimes with his friends, which included dirt biking, snowboarding, skateboarding and golfing. He also loved music. His favorites included music by the Grateful Dead, Soja and various reggae artists. Ian's generous nature, warm heart, and charming humor will be missed. Ian is survived by his mother, Linda Burr and his extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Secrest. On Saturday, January 8, 2011, visitation hours will take place from 9 am to 1 pm at White & Day Colonial Mortuary at 901 Torrance Boulevard in Redondo Beach. Following visitation at 1:30 pm, a celebration of Ian's life will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd at 21100 Victor Street, Torrance, California.
