Jack Remp Obituary

Jack Oliver Remp

Age 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 8, 2015 in the comfort of his own home.
Jack was born on April 8, 1927 in Ventura, California to Thomas and Florence Remp.
Jack served in the United States Navy and then attended USC. He graduated from USC in 1951 with a degree in business. He was a Phi Delta Theta. Jack met the love of his life, Alice, at USC. They were married in 1950. Jack and Alice raised their family in various locations from Bakersfield to LaCanada to Virginia and eventually landed in Palos Verdes. He worked in the aerospace industry then moved into the insurance profession. He was the founder of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Breakfast Club. Jacks hobbies included golf, Saturday morning paddle tennis in their backyard, music and USC football! He was forever completing a project. Whether it was building shelves, gardening, fixing something or tinkering around, he always gave it his whole heart and did it well. Jack loved a good party and his family.
Jack leaves behind his wife Alice; his three daughters, Karen Knutson, Nancy Gragg and Joan Richter. He has 11 grandchildren and 10+ great-grandchildren.

Dear Alice and Family,

My heart is full of sadness and memories of Jack. He was a wonderful man full of life and kindness, I remember the many USC gatherings at your house, the paddle tennis challenges and his wonderful big smile each and every time his USC Trojans scored a touchdown.

He was a true friend to my father Bruce MacFarlane and I will never forget that and his kindness to us as a family. I am sorry for my distance away from all of you and that this occurrence is the reason for my touching base but I wanted to share my feeling towards Jack and the many days we shared with all of you.

I am glad he had a full life and knowing he passed away peacefully at a nice age of 88, I sure would give anything to have had my Dad around until the age of 88 or longer then in his short life of age 52. Jack was like a second Dad to our family and I will always remember him.

God bless to all of you and please know he is missed by all and thank you for allowing our family into his life and yours.

All my best to you Alice and the Remp Family,

Rob MacFarlane

My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Remp family; especially Joan & Alice (Mrs. Remp). I have wonderful memories of my days(& nights) spent at your home and I will remember Jack (Mr. Remp) for his sense of humor and for how he treated me like one of his daughters. Sending Hugs to all & especially to Joan.
