Jack Ruggley Bausman Obituary
Jack Ruggley Bausman

Jack Bausman passed away on August 16th at his home in Torrance, CA. He was born October 11, 1925 to Les and Della Bausman of Dayton, Ohio. He had one older brother, Gene. In 1936 the family moved to California. Jack was an alumnus of Los Angeles High School. He served in the Navy during WWII. On September 21, 1946 he married his wife, Virginia Boyle (Ginny), from Quincy, Massachusetts. In 1951, they moved to Torrance, CA, where they raised their two sons, Jack (Randy) Bausman (Ronnalyn Edwards) and Gary Bausman (Peggy Romano).

Jack was active in the local community. He served as President of the Walteria Businessmen Club, Cub master of Troop 240C, manager of the Stars Little League baseball team, and was a supporter of both Walteria Elementary and South High Schools. For many years he worked as a sales representative in the electrical manufacturing industry, during which time he was elected to be President of the Western Electric Club.

In 1968, Jack and Virginia purchased the Redondo Beach Foster's Freeze at Knob Hill and Pacific Coast Highway. They and their sons operated the iconic Foster's Freeze for 18 years until they were unable to renew the lease on the property and the business closed. After that they owned J and V Deli, on Avenue I in the Hollywood Riviera, for 10 years at which time they retired. Jack, an avid sports fanatic through all his life, enjoyed golf, Ram's football, Laker's basketball, Dodgers baseball and horse racing in particular at Hollywood Park, Santa Anita and Del Mar. Jack was always willing to hear a good joke or to tell you one. He shall be missed by family and friends. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
