He was born and raised in Torrance on Post Avenue, the son of a founding Torrance family. Jim attended Torrance High School where he was Captain of the football team. After high school graduation, he entered the Navy and proudly served his country as a Naval Quartermaster during WWII, finishing as part of the occupation force in Japan. With four children, Jim found time to be President of the Rolling Hills Little League, a member of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Mounted Police, and President of the Professional Insurance Agents Association of California and Nevada. Additionally, he was a member of The Kiwanis club, the Torrance Chamber of Commerce, and on the board of the Torrance National Bank.
Jim loved tennis and played at the Jack Kramer Club in Rolling Hills Estates where he was also on the Board. He also enjoyed horseback riding on his horse Chief, golf, gardening, reading and enjoying friends and family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Beverly; his four children, Sally Post Leibfried, Dan Post, Jeff Post and John Post; their spouses; ten grandchildren; and one granddaughter in-law.
Jim was a true gentleman, a great leader and a trusted friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
