James C. Farber Obituary
James Farber, 86 years old, formerly from Manhattan Beach, passed awaySeptember 14, 2011. Born in Oak Park, ILon February 5, 1925, attended Oak Park High School. Jim served during WWII in the Army Air Corp (pre AirForce) as a pilot. After the war, he attended ASU and graduated from USC in 1951. He was an elementary school teacher at Camellia Avenue School in North Hollywood, Villanova Prep School in Ojai and at Hermosa Valley School in the 1950's. He raised his family in Manhattan Beach in the 60's and 70's, was a member of American Martyrs Church. From 1961-1994 he worked as a Technical Writer and Systems Engineer Consultant at aero space and technology firms. Jim was a devoted Trojan fan, he loved the ocean, cooking, football, classic movies, swing music, poetry and literature. He rode his bike and swam daily until he was 83. Jim is survived by his brother, William Farber of Redondo Beach; his three children, Ann Kuhns (Rod) of Manhattan Beach, Michael Farber (Sheri) of Encinitas, Joseph Farber of Honolulu, four grandchildren: Christine, William, Thea, and Chloe. Services Friday, September 30, 1pm at American Martyrs Church, reception 2 pm to 3 pm in the Blessed Kateri Room.
