Obituary Condolences

James Charles Walsh

Jim passed away peacefully on December 14, 2012, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 1, 1932 in Los Angeles, he attended St. John's Elementary School, Mt. Carmel High School, Loyola University and USC where he received a master's degree. He then had a 35-year career as an engineer at McDonnell-Douglas. Jim served faithfully in the US Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Ann Patrice O'Connor, in 1963, and had three children: Kimberly Ann, James Michael and Daniel Joseph. When Ann unexpectedly passed away in 1969, Jim summoned his strength and courage to raise his children, sacrificing and working hard, dedicating himself to providing everything necessary for them, especially the warmth and love of a large, extended family network that included sisters, cousins, in-laws and friends of the family. He was a true gentleman, always thoughtful of everyone, and a loyal friend to many who had the privilege of knowing him. He prided himself not on material things, but on loyalty, faithfulness and friendship. Jim was a runner, and took pride in running the Manhattan Beach 10K every year. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann, daughter, Kimberly Ann, and sister, Margaret (Sister Margaret Walsh of Sisters of St. Joseph). He is survived by his sisters, Patricia Smith and Mary (Sister Marie Bernadette), sons James (Heidi) and Daniel (Meghan), eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. His family and friends and all those he touched with his kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity will always cherish the many great memories he gave us. Funeral service at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach on Wednesday, December 19 at 10 a.m. Please sign the guestbook
