Jan Carlson Obituary
Jan Arlene Carlson January 24, 1941 - July 21, 2016

Jan Carlson, a long term resident of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, has died in Palm Desert, California on July 21, 2016. She was born in Seattle, attended Central Washington University, and has lived in the South Bay for most of the last 40 years.

She was united in holy matrimony to John Carlson in 1966 and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this fall.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her three children, Nichol, Nichelle, Natalie Hilbert and Natalie's husband, Jason Hilbert, and their two children, Riley Rose and Logan Lily. Jan is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Ruthruff of Palm Springs, nephew, Barry Ruthruff of Seattle, and niece Stacy Klelczynski of Santa Rosa. They will all miss her terribly. As a result of her spirit and warm personality, she was loved by all.

Jan's passion was walking and most every day you could find her on The Strand, going from Hermosa to Manhattan Beach for at least five miles. She felt this helped her cleanse her mind, though it was becoming more difficult in the last year.

Jan was active in the Manhattan Beach Neptunian Club and the Manhattan Beach Republican Women's Club, but her major involvement for many years was with the Alzheimer's Association of Los Angeles where she counseled care-givers. Here she learned first-hand the crippling effect of this horrible disease.

Funeral services and cremation will be private and a Celebration of Jan's life will be held at a later date in the Beach Cities. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
