Obituary Condolences

Jean A. Lawrence

Jean A. Lawrence, a 51 year resident of Torrance, passed this earth and into the hands of the Lord on Monday, September 1, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
Jean was the most loyal and devoted mother, wife and friend. At only 82, she lived a very active life, traveling, volunteering at the Armstrong Theater for many years after retirement from Areospace and McCulloch Corp. She loved walking 2 miles a day every morning around her neighborhood, and after a piece of toast and a cup coffee, worked out at Curves 5 days a week faithfully. Jean was a genuine "people person", had many lifelong friends and never had a bad word to say.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Donovan Lawrence, Jr. in 1991. That year, attending a bereavement group at Torrance Memorial, she met "Don #2", Donald Thome, also of Torrance. They quickly became the best of friends, and shared a wonderful "2nd time around", traveling together and visiting places all around the world by air, sea and land.
Jean leaves behind her son, Tim Lawrence of Atlanta, GA, her daughter Vicki Pruden of Colleyville, TX, two grandsons, Jesse and Matthew Donovan, and a granddaughter Jamie Foster. She had a wonderful sense of humor and wit and will be so very greatly missed by all who knew her, until we meet again. We know she will be there to meet us.
Graveside services will be held 10:30AM on Monday, September 8th at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Wounded Warrior Project at: woundedwarriorproject.org. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
