Born Jean Marie Grabowski in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Leo and Julia Grabowski, Jean was the oldest of three siblings. Jean worked during World War II, building tank periscopes for Honeywell Corporation and as a limo driver. After the war she worked for Dayton's department store in Minneapolis, where she met the love of her life, Charles Porter. They married February 14, 1948. The Porter's moved to El Segundo from Minnesota in 1951.
Jean worked in the aerospace industry for many years including Garret Corporation, Hughes Aircraft and finally North American Aviation. Jean retired from North American-Rockwell-Boeing about 1980 and followed Charlie into a well deserved retirement.
Jean will be remembered for her great cooking skills and her wonderful parties. She was a gracious hostess and a loving friend. Jean loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Jean is survived by her husband, Charles D. Porter, son, Charles D. Porter II (Stephanie), daughter, Gardys Kohmann (Bruce); grandchildren, Charles D. Porter III (Jennifer), Ethan Porter (Christine), and two great grandchildren, Charles D. Porter IV and Thomas Kenneth Porter. She is also survived by her brother, Bob.
