John Copper Obituary

John A. Copper

John A. Copper passed away on May 24, 2017 at the age of 82. He is survived by his two sons, Steve and Doug; and five grandchildren. John grew up in Minneapolis, attended Washburn HS and then received Degrees in Business and Engineering at the U of Minnesota. After graduating, he married Jane and moved to California. John later received a Masters in Engineering at USC and an Engineers degree at Cal Tech. He worked as an aeronautical engineer at McDonnell Douglas for 35 years. John lived in RPV and PVE for 55 years. He had an active retirement, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and tutoring at an elementary school in San Pedro. He served as President of the PV Symphony and the PV Tennis Club. In his free time he loved playing tennis, biking and gardening. He was active in his church as well. Sorry to hear the news and to be so late in response.

Have really fond memories growing up with the Copper family. From hill forts to Dodger games, John was there along with his sons and then wife guided us through.

Gone, but certainly never forgotten.

I'm saddened to hear of John's passing.
I knew that he was inducted into the International hall of fame due to his contributions to the space program.
HIs talents were many and I felt honored to know him.
I'm deeply sorry to the family for John's passing.
He was a good man and will be remembered for his brilliance.
