John T. Wagner

John T. Wagner, 72, passed away at his home in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. on October 30, 2011, from liver cancer. He was born in St. Cloud, Minn. on March 6, 1939 to Jerry and Violet Wagner, professional musicians. He graduated from Mission H.S., in Pasadena, CA. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Engineering from UCLA, and pursued a PhD program in Engineering, Aeronautics and Control Systems. His career began at the Jet Propulsion Labs in Pasadena, Calif, working on lunar and Apollo space missions. He moved on to TRW and the Aerospace Corp. in El Segundo, managing programs on Guidance and Navigation of Satellites, Spacecraft, Missiles and GPS. He was married to June Lessard, R.N., from Québec, Canada for forty two years. They became parents to Steven and Danielle, and grandparents to Kimberley and Gerard. John had a fun loving demeanor and loved sports. His love of golf was transmitted to his son Steven, the So. Calif. amateur golf champion. John and June were seasonal residents in Arizona. His mother, Mary Violet Wagner, age 99, formerly of P.V.E., passed away four weeks prior. He leaves behind his wife, two children and brother, William. A memorial service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach, Calif. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
